PAI: private AI, bootable from any USB drive.
PAI is a bootable live-USB operating system that runs a private, offline AI assistant — 100% locally, with no cloud, no accounts, and no data leaving your machine.
PAI is a Debian-based live-USB OS that gives you a complete AI workstation in your pocket. Boot from USB on any x86_64 PC, and you get a Sway + Wayland desktop, Open WebUI, and Ollama pre-configured with Llama, Mistral, and Phi models — all running locally on your hardware. PAI is amnesic by design: everything runs in RAM and is wiped on shutdown, so your conversations leave no trace. No cloud, no API keys, no surveillance.
PAI PAI is a bootable live-USB operating system designed for anyone who wants the power of modern AI without surrendering their privacy. Plug it into any x86_64 PC, set the boot order to USB, and within seconds you have a fully functional private AI workstation — no installation, no accounts, no cloud. Built on Debian 12 "Bookworm" with a Sway + Wayland desktop, PAI ships with Open WebUI and Ollama pre-installed and pre-configured. Visitors to the PAI desktop can chat with locally-running language models (Llama 3, Mistral 7B, Phi-3, and others) through a polished browser-based chat interface — the same experience as leading cloud AI products, minus the privacy trade-off. Privacy is not an afterthought. PAI is amnesic by design: the entire OS runs in RAM, and every conversation, file, and session is permanently wiped when you shut down or remove the drive. Optional Tor routing anonymizes network traffic. MAC address spoofing prevents device fingerprinting. The root filesystem is read-only to prevent persistent malware. PAI is free, open source software released under the GNU General Public License v3.0. Contributions welcome at github.com/nirholas/pai. For press inquiries: press@pai.direct
